What is genetic heart disease in dogs?
It is an inherited heart condition present from birth. Our one-year genetic health warranty covers heart defects and other inherited conditions, which is why we stand behind each puppy.
Should I take my new puppy to the vet?
Yes. Book a visit within the first few days of bringing your puppy home. Bring the health certificate and vaccine record we give you.

Most puppies need a series of shots until around 16 weeks old. Your veterinarian will set the schedule based on the vaccines your puppy has already had.
Is it safe to take my puppy outside before vaccines are finished?
Keep your puppy away from public dog areas and unknown dogs until your vet says it is safe. Your own fenced yard and calm visits with healthy, vaccinated dogs are good early options.
How often should I deworm my puppy?
Our puppies are dewormed several times before going home. Your vet will tell you when to repeat treatment and which parasite prevention to use.
What should I feed my new puppy?
Start with the food your puppy is already eating, then switch slowly over a week if you change brands. Ask your veterinarian for a puppy food that suits a growing doodle.

Young puppies usually eat three to four small meals a day. Most move to two meals a day as they grow, with your vet’s guidance.

Goldendoodles commonly live about 10 to 15 years, with smaller sizes often living longer. Diet, exercise and vet care make a big difference.
Should I spay or neuter my Goldendoodle?
Our puppies are sold as companions and are to be spayed or neutered by one year of age. Ask your vet about the best timing for your dog.

A small mini averages around 15 to 18 lbs. It is a good fit for smaller homes and families who want a compact dog.
What size Goldendoodle is right for my family?
Think about your home, activity level and who is in the house. Minis suit most families; standards suit families with space and active lifestyles.
Can you predict my puppy’s adult size?
Parents, paw size and growth rate give clues, but no one can promise an exact weight. We can tell you what size range to expect.
When do Goldendoodles stop growing?
Most reach full height around 12 months and fill out until about 18 months. Minis may finish a little sooner than standards.
What is a Goldendoodle’s temperament like?
Friendly, smart and people-loving. They tend to be playful puppies who grow into affectionate companions.
Are Goldendoodles good with children?
Usually, yes. They are gentle and playful, but young puppies and small kids always need supervision for everyone’s safety.
Are Goldendoodles good with other pets?
Most get along well with dogs and cats when introduced slowly. Our puppies grow up around other dogs and farm animals.
Do Goldendoodles shed?
Most shed very little, especially compared with many breeds. They still need regular brushing, because loose hair gets trapped in the curls.
How often should I groom my Goldendoodle?
Brush several times a week and book a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks. Keeping the coat short makes upkeep easier.
How do I stop my Goldendoodle’s coat from matting?
Brush down to the skin, not just the surface, and comb behind the ears, under the legs and around the collar. Dry the coat well after baths and swims.
How often should I bathe my Goldendoodle?
Roughly every four to six weeks, or when your dog is dirty. Use a gentle dog shampoo and dry thoroughly.
Do Goldendoodles get ear infections?
They can, because hair grows inside the ear canal and floppy ears hold moisture. Check and clean ears weekly and ask your groomer or vet about plucking.
How much exercise does a Goldendoodle need?
A mini usually needs 30 to 60 minutes of activity a day, with play and mental games on top. Standards often need more.
Are Goldendoodles easy to train?
Yes. They are smart and eager to please, and they respond well to positive reward-based training. Start on day one.
When should I start training my puppy?
The day you bring your puppy home. Short, fun sessions on name, sit, potty routine and crate time set good habits early.
How do I crate train a puppy?
Make the crate cozy, feed meals in it and keep early stays short. Never use the crate for punishment, and follow every nap with a potty trip.
How long does potty training take?
Many puppies are mostly reliable in a few weeks to a few months. Consistency and a steady schedule matter more than anything else.
How often does a puppy need to go outside?
Every one to two hours at first, plus after eating, drinking, waking and play. Your puppy can wait longer as it grows.
How do I stop my puppy from biting?
Redirect to a chew toy, stop play when teeth touch skin and reward calm behavior. Nipping is normal in young puppies and fades with consistent training.
Can Goldendoodles be left alone?
Adult dogs can handle a few hours, but they are social and do best with company. Build up alone time slowly and leave toys and chews.
Do Goldendoodles suffer from separation anxiety?
Some do, because they bond closely with their people. Practice short departures, avoid long goodbyes and ask your vet if the worry persists.
Do Goldendoodles bark a lot?
Usually not excessively. They may bark at visitors or when bored, and training and exercise help keep it in check.
Can a Goldendoodle live in an apartment?
Yes, especially a mini or small mini, if they get daily walks and play. Their energy needs matter more than square footage.
Do Goldendoodles need a fenced yard?
A fenced yard is helpful but not required. Without one you will need leashed walks and plenty of safe playtime.
Are Goldendoodles good service or therapy dogs?
Many are. Their calm, friendly temperaments suit the work, and many Bittersweet puppies serve their families as service and therapy dogs.
Can I train my Goldendoodle as a therapy dog?
Many families do. Start with basic obedience and good manners, then look into a local therapy-dog organization’s requirements.
Are Goldendoodles good for first-time dog owners?
Yes, if you are ready for training, grooming and daily exercise. We are happy to walk first-time owners through what to expect.
Are Goldendoodles good for seniors?
A mini or small mini can be a loving companion for seniors who enjoy daily walks. Think about energy level, size and long-term care.
Do Goldendoodles like water?
Many love to swim, thanks to their Golden Retriever side. Rinse and dry the coat afterward to prevent matting and skin trouble.
How much does it cost to own a Goldendoodle each year?
Budget for food, vet care, grooming, training and supplies. Professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks is a big part of the cost.
What supplies do I need before my puppy comes home?
A crate, bed, food and water bowls, leash, collar with ID tag, puppy food, chew toys, a brush and potty-training supplies. Puppy-proof your home too.
How do I puppy-proof my home?
Pick up shoes, cords and small objects, secure trash and block off stairs and off-limits rooms. Keep toxic plants and foods out of reach.
What foods are dangerous for dogs?
Chocolate, grapes and raisins, onions, garlic, xylitol sweetener and macadamia nuts. Call your vet right away if your dog eats any of them.
How do I introduce my puppy to my other dog?
Meet on neutral ground, keep early visits short and supervise closely. Give each dog its own food bowls, beds and space.
How do I introduce my puppy to my cat?
Go slowly. Let them smell each other’s bedding first, keep the puppy leashed at first and give the cat a high escape spot.
How do I socialize my puppy safely?
Introduce new people, sounds, surfaces and calm vaccinated dogs in short, happy sessions. Ask your vet when puppy classes are safe.
How long should my puppy sleep?
Young puppies sleep 18 to 20 hours a day. Give them a quiet crate and do not interrupt naps.
What is the best way to travel with a puppy?
Use a secure crate or a crash-tested harness and bring water and towels. Plan potty stops and never leave a puppy alone in a hot car.
Can I take my puppy to a dog park?
Wait until your vet says vaccines are complete, and then pick a time when the park is quiet. Every dog should be healthy and friendly.
What is the difference between an F1 and multi-generational Goldendoodle?
An F1 is a Golden Retriever crossed with a Poodle. Multi-generational dogs come from Goldendoodle parents, which often brings more coat consistency. Our minis are multi-generational.
What is the difference between a Goldendoodle and a Labradoodle?
A Goldendoodle is a Golden Retriever and Poodle cross; a Labradoodle uses a Labrador. Goldendoodles are often described as gentle and especially people-focused.
Why are Goldendoodles so popular?
They are friendly, smart and low-shedding, and they come in sizes for many homes. They are also known for being great with families.
What colors do Goldendoodles come in?
Cream, apricot, red, chocolate, black and parti are common. Colors can lighten or shift as a puppy matures.
What does a red Goldendoodle look like?
A rich, deep copper or mahogany coat. Landon, one of our current puppies, has a beautiful red coat.
What is a teddy bear cut?
A groom that leaves the face and body at an even, fluffy length. It is popular for its easy care and puppy look.
Can Goldendoodles live in hot weather?
They can, with shade, water and short outdoor sessions on hot days. A shorter groom helps in summer.
Can Goldendoodles handle New Hampshire winters?
Yes. Their coats keep them comfortable in the cold, though snow and ice can clump in the fur. Wipe paws and keep the coat brushed.
What kind of toys are best for a puppy?
Soft chew toys, rope toys, puzzle feeders and frozen treats for teething. Avoid anything small enough to swallow.
How do I find a responsible Goldendoodle breeder?
Look for a breeder who raises puppies in the home, offers vet checks and a health warranty, answers questions openly and welcomes visits. Be wary of anyone who skips these.
How can I tell if a puppy ad is a scam?
Be cautious of sellers who will not talk on the phone or let you visit, who ask for payment up front without a conversation or who offer prices far below normal.
Why should I visit the breeder before buying?
You see where the puppies live, meet the dogs and judge their health and temperament yourself. That is why we welcome visits by appointment.
