Louie is an AKC small Standard Poodle who has sired many litters for us over the past few years. This handsome boy weighs 39 lbs. and is about 19" tall at the shoulder. The Poodle lifespan averages 12-15 years. Louie's deep red coat has now lightened to apricot, as is typical in Poodles. Louie is very agile, is in excellent health, has recently been neutered and is ready to enjoy his "retirement" as the "only dog" with lots of love to give! He loves attention, thrives on interaction, and is exceptionally smart. Energetic and eager to please, Louie enjoys activity and mental challenges, making him both highly trainable and fun. His vibrant temperament, striking curly coat and athletic structure make him a perfect candidate for your next best friend!

About Adopting a Retiring Parent Dog
* If you are considering adopting a retiring parent dog, please take into consideration that it will take a few weeks to a month for the dog to adjust to his/her new lifestyle. Here at Bittersweet Farm, they are part of the "pack" where they enjoy being with their dog friends. They enjoy being turned loose in the kennels to play or going on a hike with us on the farm. They will walk on a leash, but will require some training, since they don't walk on a leash on a regular basis. They will need to learn about being out and about in the world. Their life will be a completely new adventure and they will adapt with love and patience. We just want you to realize that it won't be an immediate adjustment. However, if you're willing to put in some quality time and effort, you will have a wonderful lifelong companion!
